On June 24, at 5:30 PM the Central Minnesota Circle of Health and the Stearns Benton Medical Society will host and facilitate a presentation by Park Nicollet ER physician, Dr. Chris Johnson with a discussion to follow as we discuss the development of a community-wide policy/protocol for guidance in regard to prescribing narcotics and other troublesome meds. The meeting location is yet to be determined, but will probably be either at the Library or at the SCSU campus.
After presentations by Dr. Johnson and a DEA diversion expert, Joe Cappello on April 22 at SCSU, local doctors and other providers present suggested that we continue to facilitate the development of our own medical community’s prescribing protocol/policy to cover narcotics, hypnotics, anxiolytics, etc. We invite any and all interested physicians, nurses, physician assistants, clinic and hospital workers, pharmacists, administrators and interested community members to attend and participate as we discuss the feasibility of developing such a protocol/policy, and hopefully begin to build it to our own specifications and Central Minnesota needs.
I will post more details soon in this space, but please leave this date, June 24, 2014, 5:30 PM open and plan to attend and participate.
