Whitney Senior Health Expo a Hit with Seniors in Central Minnesota:
Last Saturday morning the Central Minnesota’s health-conscious seniors flocked to the River’s Edge Convention Center for another popular Whitney Senior Health Expo. The Circle of Health volunteers and Stearns Deputy Zwack collected 90 pounds of unneeded medications of all types from vitamins to narcotics. Our “Medication Safety Station was very popular as we gave out about 450 free 7-day pill boxes and all 200 blank wallet medication lists. We distributed all 200 lists that we had showing the 7 permanent medication drop-off sites at law enforcement centers in Stearns and Benton Counties. We had hundreds of encounters with curious seniors and their family members eager to learn more about “Medication Safety” – this year’s public health campaign issue for the Central Minnesota Circle of Health. People actually went home to get their meds to drop-off and returned before we closed to take the opportunity to safely dispose of their unneeded pills and potions. We will be at the SummertimebyGeorge! festival in St Cloud tonight, August 20 offering another drug drop-off opportunity. Please join us at the Medication Safety Station near the Rotary booth.
